(SPRINGFIELD) - Senate President John J. Cullerton released the following statement regarding Governor Bruce Rauner’s plan to erode worker protections that balance the workers’ compensation system:

“Thanks to 2011 reforms, Illinois workers’ compensation premium rates are dropping. Still, there may be room for businesses to realize more savings in light of recommendations from the National Council on Compensation Insurance. I believe that we can work together to identify ways to get more savings to employers.

However, I will continue to oppose any attempt to disrupt the compromise designed to protect the health of workers while capping employer liability. To disrupt that balance in favor corporate profits breaks the agreement and protections of the workers’ compensation system.”
